This is an unusual place it's for free and open discussions as well as fun and creative threads the only rule is don't get in the gutter just converse like a decent human being. It's fine to be controversial just don't get real mean about it. Look forward to your input.

When he opened his eyes he found himself in a beautiful happy place. People we're laughing and singing some were dancing and food and drink was plentiful and he thought I've surely passed on and this must be heaven. He smiled until someone stood up on the stage and welcomed the crowd to a royal carribean party and he realized he had just been rescued by a cruise ship.

VOICE
by compound complex inhis voice is liquid, drowning me then rescuing me from the sheer weight of a burdensome life that can no longer be borne.. somehow, a singularly caressing envelope of grace shields me from total obliteration, his ethereal utterance an unknown but strangely welcome entity.. what power lures me outside myself into a realm within my reality but, nonetheless, beyond it?
it is sonority that at once crushes me yet, alternately, cradles me tenderly inside delicate tracery of angel song.. i beg - oh, how i beg - to be released from this aural tidal wave of unquantifiable beauty.. his music is that of other worlds; it holds me in its protective but unrelinquishing embrace.
i equivocate, but it is demurral of little account for i cave and become captive .

She carried her groceries in and put them on the counter and looked out the window another beautiful bright and sunny day and all was well. After putting everthing away she sat down and put on some sad and plaintive music a song that always made her cry but it felt good in a strange sort of way.She got up and started doing her laundry singing that song again in her mind drifting to that place. Her life wasn't particularly sad but there's something enticing about that feeling like taking a staycation to a mysterious land.

Nostalgia of the Unknown
by compound complex in"the nostalgia of things unknown, of lands forgotten or unfound, is upon me at times.
often i long for the gleam of yellow suns upon terraces of translucent azure marble, mocking the windless waters of lakes unfathomably calm; for lost, legendary palaces of serpentine, silver and ebony, whose columns are green stalactites; for the pillars of fallen temples, standing in the vast purpureal sunset of a land of lost and marvellous romance.
i sigh for the dark-green depths of cedar forests, through whose fantastically woven boughs, one sees at intervals an unknown tropic ocean, like gleams of blue diamond; for isles of palm and coral, that fret an amber morning, somewhere beyond cathay or taprobane; for the strange and hidden cities of the desert, with burning brazen domes and slender pinnacles of gold and copper, that pierce a heaven of heated lazuli.".

The fog comes on little cat feet
It sits looking over the harbor city
on silent haunches
and then moves on
Carl Sandburg
What a scene he paints always amazing

When i was a kid we had lunch boxes with thermos bottles
elephant jokes, 45 records with the latest way to play putting several on with the little arm across to make them drop, before color tv and remotes and the excitement of the first polaroid camera, seeing lee harvey oswald getting shot on tv, watching Elvis presley on the Ed Sullivan show with my mother, the mouseketeers and jimeny cricket singing it's the encyclopedia and annette Funicello singing Tall Paul he's my all

I am exhausted emotionally.
by PaintedToeNail ini have been reading ashley judd's 'all things bitter and sweet' autobiography, and it has exhausted me.
she paints a picture of neglect and abuse from early childhood on.
as i sat reading, i realised i was identifying with so much of what she wrote.. why, when having an emotional breakdown as a teenager, major obsessive compulsive disorder, obvious depression symptoms, would you refuse to get medical help for your child?

Sometimes you just feel helpless i wish you didn't have that childhood. i fantasize all the time that I'll turn on the news and see the governing body in handcuffs being led out of the headquarters by the police for all their shady dealings. Maybe one day. i hope you heal and move forward and find happiness and love.

Einstein and Religion - with considerations of "Human Free Will"
by james_woods inok, here is a small first step toward putting together a thread on this subject.
the problem i had in getting started was how complicated the topic is - how to get it into an understandable form suitable for a discussion thread.
first - einstein was, of course, jewish.

i choose not to accept the genesis account as it's stated in the bible because if i choose it then i am choosing to eliminate other possibilites and ignoring other evidence.
